Guests are invited to rest and restore, both indoors and out. Across the street flows the Cacoosing Creek, home to many deer, geese, squirrels, songbirds, mature sycamores and young saplings. Behind the house sits a local park and a small walking trail along the creek.
The Wailing Wall, hand-constructed from fieldstone, rests behind the corn crib. Inspired by the Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, it holds many prayers, both written and whispered, and is an invitation for guests to release their sorrows into prayers. Refugia House is near to many green spaces in which to explore, such as Blue Marsh Lake, the Union Canal Trail, and Nolde Forest. A gorgeous labyrinth for walking and reflecting is less than a 10 minute drive away. The walkable town of West Reading, a 15 minute drive, boasts many locally-owned restaurants and shops. |
